3 Days 3 Quotes Tag, Day 3

I’m late but I got there in the end! Finishing up our 3 Days 3 Quotes Tag, courtesy of Okoto Enigma – don’t forget to check her blog if you haven’t already!

Today, I’m going to hit you up with some Shakespeare. I fell in love with Will the first time I met him – over the Merchant of Venice in year 10 English and I’m pretty sure this is going to be a life long affair for me.

It really annoys me when people make out that Shakespeare’s work terribly  intellectual and that you need a degree to understand him. This is utter nonsense. I reckon Shakespeare’s current equivalent would be George R.R. Martin and Game of Thrones – I don’t think he’s reached Shakespeare’s death toll yet but he must be getting close.

tennant-hamletShakespeare’s work is fairly obese with amazing quotes, but my absolute favourite is from Hamlet – which I’m sure you’ve already guessed.

Nothing is good or bad, but thinking makes it so.

In other words, things are just things, events are just events. It is how we think about them that affects the way we interact with the world.

(I now have a deep seated desire to watch David Tennant sulk, cry and pretend to be nuts for 3 hours ….)

    • I haven’t seen Cumberbatch’s, but I really think that Tennant’s is one f the best renditions I’ve seen particularly with the way he naturalises the language. Gibson (and Branagh to a point) didn’t have that natural delivery that I felt Tennant brought to the part. 😊
