This month has been completely insane. I’ve been concentrating on work a fair bit and that has interfered with my reading and blogging. After this week is over I should be able to get back on track. I know I have a bunch of awards to acknowledge (thank you again to those who have nominated me!) I promise I haven’t forgotten.
Here are the books I read in November:
- The Most Dangerous Place on Earth by Lindsey Lee Johnson
- The City of Dreaming Books by Walter Moers
- A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
- Clancy of the Undertow by Christopher Currie
- Sex Crimes in the 50s by Lisa Featherstone
- Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley
- Plainsong by Kazushi Hosaka
- Ghost Empire by Richard Fidler
- Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
- His Bloody Project by Graeme McCrae Burnet
- The Girl with all the Gifts by M.R. Carey
- The Road by Cormac McCarthy
- Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
- Dark Emu by Bruce Pascoe
So not bad but not my best. 3 books were by people of colour – not great but an improvement on last month. I think Americanah is one of the best books I’ve read this year. Dark Emu was also incredibly eye opening. If you are Australian, you need to read this book!
I also hit my Goodreads goal of 170 books for the year this month. (I’m currently sitting at 173.) I would love to make it to 200 but I don’t know if that’s feasible. Still, I’m not beyond reading till my eyes swell shut over the Christmas long weekend if that’s what I need to do.
How was your November? Are you close to your reading goal for the year? How is December shaping up for you?
wow, congratulations on your reading goals. 173 books is pretty impressive. I am so glad that you enjoyed Americanah so much. Adichie is one of my favorite authors. How was Liane’s book? I have heard so much about her books though I am yet to read one. Have a wonderful December.

Thank you! I’m going to search out Adichie’s other books and read them too :). I actually enjoyed Liane’s book a lot more than I thought I would. I’ve avoided her for ages because she’s so popular. But it was smart, funny and had a good message. Happy December to you Diana!

December does seem more promising than November for me at least. Though I can honestly say that I don’t think it will get less busy! How can you even read so many books in one month? :0 amazing!

I’m looking forward to the public holidays. I don’t do a lot of socialising over Christmas, so most of that time will be a free reading pass.
I have two aces up my sleeve when it comes to reading – I have a long commute and I don’t watch TV. π
Good luck with your December!

Thanks! I like audiobooks too though I don’t want to read them passively and miss half the content so that needs some time as well.

I know what you mean. Fortunately for me, part of my jib is listening to and reviewing phone calls, so listening to audio books is a breeze by comparison:)

Phone calls? :0 I don’t want to be rude, but doesn’t that get boring pretty soon?

I look after the Quality Assurance for my company’s call centre, so it is what it is. It can be surprisingly interesting – every call is different and is like a little story in itself π

173? That’s an achievement! π I stand at 71, which is more than I have ever read before so I’m quite happy about it. You’ve had a great reading month despite being busy with work! I’ll be reading my first Moriarty in January, I haven’t found the time to get to it this year! Happy December!

Thank you! 71 is an awesome achievement too! I only hit 50 last year – I’m still not sure how I’ve managed to get such a high number. I hope you enjoy Moriarty π

Congrats on meeting your reading challenge! I also reached mine! π Also, 14 books read this month is a lot, more than double mine π

Thank you! I haven’t read this month in a 12 month period for a long time (probably not since before my daughter was born) and I feel better for it. Congratulations to you as well!! I barely managed to pick up a book while Imogen was under ten, so I think you’re doing a great job to be organised enough to both read and blog (not to mention work and everything else) while your son is s young π

Lol, she has no idea and I don’t keep track. She had a super busy month finalising school assessment – she’s on summer holidays now. She finally read Gemina (I had been pestering her for a month) and she read Eona as well. She doesn’t read as much as I do.
