24 in 48 – July 2019 Edition

Hi folks,

This weekend has been the second 24 in 48 Readathon for the year. This one tends to co-incide with Imogen’s birthday so I decided to take a more relaxed approach. So I’ve just done what I’ve been capable of and (gasp) haven’t even used a stopwatch.

The result is that I think I’ve read more (pages certainly) than I have during some readathons where I’ve been trying really hard. Too much pressure clearly makes my brain malfunction. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Here’s what I have finished during the 24 in 48.

People have raved about The Dry since it came out. I thought it was okay (I guessed the whodunnit). Mostly I felt really disconnected from the main character. Also please note the excellence of my favourite Deadpool pyjamas.

Kindred is a wonderfully moving collection of poems by Kirli Saunders. You should make sure this on your TBR.

Speak Easy Speak Love is a delightful retelling of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing set in the 1920s in a speak easy on Long Island. George does a wonderful job of bringing the history and the play together and I enjoyed it very much!

I’ve also started Warcross by Marie Lu. I’m about 60 pages into it and totally sucked into the story. I won’t get it finished tonight due to birthday celebrations, but I’m still pretty happy with my effort this weekend.

Are you participating in the 24 in 48? How are you going? Don’t forget to nap lots and stay hydrated!

Cheers
