AusYABloggers 77 Saturday

Hello folks! Normally (if I remember to post it!) I do the 77 Saturday on my insta account (which is @doddyaboutbooks if you want to check it out). But I thought I would flesh it out here today for something a bit different.

77 Saturday is a tag run by the AusYABloggers folks who do wonderful things within the Australian YA community.

I’ve taken my instructions today from Brooklyn :

The prompts are:

  • Title
  • Author
  • Excerpt
  • Thoughts

I thought I would do a little blast from the past today.

The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff is one of my favourite series in YA. The format is enticing, the characters have inexhaustible reserves of snark and the plot just tears along. Here’s my exerpt:

The latest round of talking (or not) about our feelings led our group leader to conclude that maybe some of us are more forthcoming than others when it comes to sharing the deepest darkest parts of ourselves.

Being the astute creature that she is, she spent ten minutes I’m never getting back pointing out that just because we don’t talk about our feelings doesn’t mean we don’t have them.

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

This one sprang to mind as I have yet to read the new one from Kaufman and Kristoff Aurora Rising, and I realised that I was well late to that party when I saw the cover release for Aurora Burning. Oops.

Have you read these? Let me know what you thought!

Cheers,
